After 2 years of preparation and piloting-field based works (in Jajarkot, Dailekha, kalikot, Dolakha, Ramechhap, Solukhumbu, Khotang, Okhaldhunga) initiated by Swiss citizens Jorrit Bachmann and Maria Suhner, Solar Cinema Nepal officially launched press-meet to inform about organization and her activities in Nepal in 21 January 2015. “Our aim is to inform people about how movie can be a tool for promoting cultural cooperation and development activities” said Ohm Thakuri, newly appointed secretariat of Solar Cinema Nepal. ”It was my pleasure to work with the film crews and to give some of my knowledge to the interested people who discovered the first time the filmic view through a camera“, says Baburam Nepali. “They understood the process of filmmaking very quickly and the topics they chose were interesting” adds Maria Suhner. For example: a youth’s film crew realized a movie about the different medical treatments in their village (traditional healer and a medical doctor) and showed the advantages of both doctors as well as their limitations. Another very engaged film crew in Okhaldhunga District took care of the socio-economical change in their village, the film shows the struggles as well as a possible outlook for a change in future “.
On the occasion of press release, a local movie; Treatment was screening in Sambad Dabali hall in Anamnagar. Media, journalists, film critics and development workers were participating in the press-release event.
